Mission: |
The Rochester Rookies is a wheelchair
and ambulatory sports program dedicated to enhancing the quality of
lives by teaching athletic skills, fostering independence, building
character and helping families realize their child's full potential
through programs, advocacy and services.
The program seeks to provide individuals
the opportunity to engage in physical fitness activities and
socialization.

Servicing: |
The Rochester Rookies was founded in
1976 by Paralympic Gold Medalist, Jo Ann Armstrong. The team is an
affiliate of Adaptive Sports USA. The Rookies have an eight month
training season (September - November and February - June).
Practice is held on Saturdays, 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM, SUNY College at
Brockport, Tuttle North Gymnasium.
The Rochester Rookies program serves
children and adults with physical disabilities, Futures Program (5-7),
Junior Program (8-23),"Young at Heart" Adult Program (24+). Individuals
interested in a fun, competitive and recreational sports program
should join the team. People seeking physical fitness,
socialization, and fun should participate.
